The sounds that come from within our larynx are a result of a complete adapting, changing, compromising harmony reached by both our vocal chords and the tube from which the air blows through.

resonance happens when a driving force (vocal folds) matches frequencies with a driven system (vocal tract). if the natural characteristics of the driving force coincide with the driven system, a big response results. and of course, the goal of the voice is to create the greatest possible response from the matching up of both.

therefore, what does the the driven system do? the muscles change the vocal tract so that the natural frequencies can better coincide with the frequencies of the vocal folds, and vice versa.

harmony requires sacrifice and compromise. not to mention a going beyond what is thought as enough. but, oh what beautiful melodies and sounds our human parts can make!!
